Movie Review : The Corpse Bride
This is a Tim Burton animation movie that retells a jewish fairytale in a similar style to “A Nightmare Before Christmas”.
Its about Victor who is slated to marry Victoria but in a fit of anguish runs into the woods and accidentally marries a zombie. Victor at first is horrified but then grows to like his new corpse bride.
The advantage of animation is complete control over the entire experience and Burton does an amazing job. The flick portrays the underworld as fun, lively, and colorful in contrast to the world of the living as depressing sad and gray. This treatment is really quite marvelous and worth watching the flick for by itself. The animation is also amazing - there is no cgi in this flick to my understanding but its kind of lost on the cgi spoiled viewer.
Another interesting component is how sympathetic one gets to the corpse bride. She’s so sweet and nice - and a babe! I think anybody would marry her.
So, yes! Go watch this movie. Its pretty twisted on the surface but once your in, you forget all that and its a great flick.
