You kind of want to like this movie. It really tries to be realistic. But. . .

4 brothers have their mother murdered and want to find out why. It turns out to be basically one long chase scene with multiple shootouts and a bunch of killings. In between all this crap that is supposed to be business as usual because they are in Detroit is some fairly entertaining character development.

Mark Wahlberg plays one of the brothers. He is the nuts one (surprise) and kind of over hams most of the flick. The other brothers are not too bad. They argue and bicker in entertaining fashion. The bad guys even have lots of personality.

So yeah. It tries to be a good flick but can’t seem to quite keep the edges together. Its an acceptable rental but I’m pleased I kept my 9 dollars.

Whoa, this one is a ball buster. A korean film directed by Chan-wook Park (Old Boy) about a deaf and dump guy who tries to help his girlfriends sister by selling his kidney on the black market. Nothing goes right and pretty much everyone of significance in the flick dies gruesomely.

It starts kind of topsy turvey with you having no clue what the movie is about. As it unravels, you wonder where its going. It gets sad and depressing as none of the people deserve what is happening to them.

Then it moves to just plain gruesome as those who were once not bad start being kind of well bad. But what really is bad when there are so many good reasons for such actions? You knew these people just a short while ago as fairly good people - didn’t you?

At some point, you realize that there is no logical end so even if you think its a big waste of your time, you just kind of get mesmerized and well, you just can’t stop watching. What could possibly happen next and how on earth does it end.

Finally, it ends. There is nothing left and thats all there is to it. Just kind of disturbing but still very well made.
