Wazee Super Club Pizza Cornucopia

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

Ok, so the gang at the new job decided to take me out and even let me choose the location. Nice!

This is another Hickenlooper owned location if my info is right.

So, we ordered twice as much pizza as we needed.  Not on purpose but all those pizza’s sound so good.

The supreme is a given.  Easily one of the most tasty pizza’s I’ve ever tried.  We also had the pesto chicken and the vegetarian.  Pesto was a bit to cheezy. Vegetarian very good as usual.  Can you tell my fav is the supreme?

Lunch at Wynkoop

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

This is a classic Denver hangout. You can always bring anyone there without fear of disappointing or giving a wrong impression. Its classy yet casual and always good.

I had the buffalo burger and substituted the garlic mashed potatoes for the side. These are easily the best mashed potatoes you can get this side of anywhere. The burger is pretty nice too. Make sure you get it rare or medium rare. (Buffalo burger gets overcooked extremely easily) Also, skip the cheese and onions and mushrooms. These are great on regular cow but buffalo has a special good flavor that should not be covered.

In a side note, this place is partially owned by Hickenlooper- the mayor.

Common Grounds : Coffee (Brazilian)

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

This is by far my favorite cup of joe in denver. It has a marvelously complete taste.  It actually changes flavors a bit as it cools. It has a hint of chocolate and a nice smooth earthy texture.  Alas, its only there about every 4th time I go in.

Taza Cafe : Smothered breakfast burrito

Friday, October 6th, 2006

This is really a very nice place. You can get a pretty nice breakfast burrito smothered in green chili sauce and a cup of coffee for barely 5 bucks. The green chili sauce is actually one of my favorites in Denver.

The coffee is almost too smooth as compared to my favorite (Brazilian at Common Grounds) but still very nice. It is definetly a very good coffee but it does’nt have that thick earty flavor I’ve somehow grown to love. However, they say its a real south american flavor and I think that is how it is down there.

Keep in mind, only in the US will you find people drinking coffee quite by the gallon so it can’t be exactly the same.

McDonalds : coffee and sausage egg and cheese sandwich

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

I found the coffee to be very high in caffeine as you can see from this note. It had an initial taste that I did not like so much but I got used to it and now its acceptable. Aftertaste not so bad.

You can’t go wrong with this sandwich. Its a buck!

However, I noted that it has a fascinating slipperyness. The sandwich has a sausage patty and a puck of egg(Yes, its a puck I think). When I opened the sandwich, the egg puck almost slid off the sausage. Now, I used to be an engineer in a previous life so I investigated some more by running my finger over the egg and noted almost zero friction! My finger slid on the egg effortlessly.

Think about it. Zero friction is the holy grail of many engineering pursuits. If you could get zero friction in your cars’s engine, it would literally last forever. If you could get zero friction on the space shuttle’s skin, it would never blow up!

Unfortunately, I have to get to work so I’ll have to investigate some more about how to apply this egg coating to my car’s engine at a later date.
